- Purpose- Through the dimmed coloring, minimal text, along with an enlarged photo of a half naked man in front of the store name tells us that this ad is trying to persuade to it's customers that by wearing their clothing name, anyone will look as good as this man in front of your eyes. This advertisement even hides their own product name and tries to first capture your eye with a good-looking body to lure you into their store . After a viewer is drawn to this man's body, they soon then refer back to the store name. This makes customers believe that A&F clothing is hott, sexual, and the good-looking clothing line to wear and by allowing yourself to feel and look that way, A&F is what must be worn. Done only by showing a half naked, toned man buyers try to relate to this figure as they purchase this brand name.
- Audience- Because this male body is staring right back at us as we stare at him, it not only draws the attention of men, but women. For men, they will feel this need to purchase this clothing names because "sexy" and "toned" men wear it, as seen in the add. But, on the other hand, women are also drawn into this ad, seeing as they cannot turn their eyes away from this enlarged, beautiful, sexy male body before their own eyes. Women will then begin to think that all the "hott" and "cool" men are wearing this product, so they then begin to advertise this to their friends and family members of the opposite sex. Soon, women are loured into this store to see what they have in store for themselves.
- Genre- For this ad, many, if not most of Abercombie and Fitch ads portray 99.9% half naked bodies, touching, groping, kissing and holding one another. As their store name is usually being hidden behind these sexual poses of men and women either alone or with others, all of these ads display nothing but a raunchy scheme to lure their consumers in. All A&F ads argue that their clothing line is the hip brand to wear and that maybe what comes along with purchasing this brand name will benefit your SEX LIFE, as displayed in multiple other ads. This is done even without having to display any of their clothing products. By displaying toned, head-turning photos of bodies along beside their brand name, allows buyers to assume that this is how they will appear to themselves and others if they are to wear Abercombie and Fitch.
- Tone- This dingy, nude, three word text at the max ad, displays for a sexy, mysterious, fun tone.

Effective Vs.Mediocre....What's the Difference?
Detail- One key factor in determining whether a paper deserves an A or a B can be reflected by the description and details portrayed. For an effective paper, a writer will have successfully painted a picture for it's readers. Through details such as colors, speed, conditions, etc., a reader will easily be able to envision what the writer is personally imagining. Also, a successful writer will treat each reader as if they are almost a "child", acting as if they know hardily anything about what is being presented, even though they may. This may help a writer to write in detail. For a mediocre grade, a writer will lack descriptions and adjectives that are necessary for a reader to easily understand, envision and find interest in.
Creativity- Creativity plays a very important role in dividing an effective paper from a mediocre paper. Although every paper has it's own guidelines, a successful writer should bring creativity and individuality to their own paper. Successful creativity will interest a reader, allowing one to stay focused. While, for a mediocre grade, a writers work may appear dull, boring, or too original. But, by bringing creativity, the author will soon earn the respect of it's readers.
Unity- For a paper to earn a sufficient grade, each body paragraph should relate it's thesis statement correctly. Each paragraph should stay relevant to what is trying to be proven through a paper. An effective paper will support the thesis statement with defined, true details, while for a mediocre grade, a writer will usually stray off from the thesis, which will, in the end confuse the reader.
Personally, I find writing my papers in successful unity a challenge. I tend to stray off from the thesis, and point out facts that neither correspond to what I am trying to prove, or what relates to my topic. But, what I do find easiest in writing an effective paper deals with portraying details and painting a clear picture. Writing with strong adjectives is most certainly my strong suit.

Generating Ideas
One idea that I've had come to mind for my literacy narrative topic is one that discusses my disliking toward reading until I managed to get my hands on a Nicholas Sparks book during my Sophomore year of High School, which quickly redirected my train of thought. After reading the novel Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, I couldn't find myself to put one of his books down. His novels inspire me to read, not only his books, but any type of love story. Never have I thought I would take an interest in reading, seeing as I disliked it for practically my whole life, but Sparks proved my wrong.
- One pro in writing about this life experience is that i remember distinctly my feelings, actions, and attitude through this process considering it was only about two years ago. This will enable me to write a very discriptive, personal essay.
- A con in writing about this topic is that maybe males in the audience will not be able to relate to the same interest that I took a liking toward, seeing as most men do not quite appreciate a good love story.
- A pro that comes along with this essay topic is that everyone in the audience can most certainly connect to this adventure or should be able to connect in a similar way if not.
- A con about this essay topic is that maybe this essay may come across as dull, boring, and/or too original, which may lose the audiences focus and interest.
- One pro that comes along with this essay is that most certainly every college student all across the glove can relate to this essay, seeing as everyone needed to pass their senior year research paper to graduate. I think it was capture the attention of mostly everyone in my class, and maybe others.
- Another pro is that I can recall main details and feelings that I would be able to add into this paper for not only my satisfaction, but also my audience, which will keep them entertained.
- One last con for this english essay is that I am not really interested and motivated to write about this topic, seeing as I am most interested in writing about my first essay topic. (:

Why English 101?
Although I consider English 101 just another mandatory class needed to be taken to graduate on time, I actually find it very beneficiary to me, along with my fellow classmates. Yes, English 101 is a required Gen-Ed class for myself, but I hope for this class to broaden my eyes to a whole new type of writing and analyzing different methods of work. I find this class very helpful, especially since I am planning on becoming a teacher myself. Personally, this class will benefit my writing techniqes and remind me of previous learned materials that I had once learned that may have been forgotten.
Through these continuous exercises of writting blogs and reading articles followed with writting a personal reaction, my writting skills will most certainly improve. These activites appear very useful in that eventually, over time, my writing and thinking skills will become more natural with every inch of practice that I get. Through this course I hope to pick up skills that will allow me to communicate to others in a breif and effecient way.
My thoughts and words cannot come close to the thanks that I would like to give recognition to. NEIU's ideas and support for students to successfully complete this course will only come to benefit us in a very positive and studious way. Through this class I hope to grow not only as a writer, but as a person, to learn more about myself and others in a personal way.
